Dr. Robert Emmett Sullivant, 89, of Topeka, entered into the Presence of the Lord on October 30, 2012. Fondly known by many as "Doc" Robert (aka: Bob) spent the majority of his life in Topeka, Kansas, serving the community as a Chiropractor for 56 years. Bob was born on May 17, 1923, in Waverly, Kansas, the fourth child of ten siblings. All of his siblings have preceded him in death except for a sister.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Thurmond Sullivant of 34 years. They were married on August 31, 1978. Bob is also survived by his 3 children, Kevin Sullivant of Montana, Mark Sullivant of Montana, Mike (Pam) Sullivant of Maple Hill, Kansas, and a stepdaughter, Meg Atwood, of Topeka, Kansas. He has 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. His oldest child, a daughter, Stephanie Anne (Sullivant) McMullen of Sarasota, Florida, preceded him in death in 2006.
Bob completed his Chiropractic degree from Kansas State Chiropractic College (Cleveland Chiropractic College) and he moved to Topeka in 1947. His offices were located at that time on 10th St. & Washburn until 1973 when he moved his offices to 4525 S.W. 21st Street. He practiced on S.W. 21st St. until May, 2003 when he retired at the age of 80. The Kansas Chiropractic Association honored him for his 56 years of service in 2006. Bob's life was noted by an insatiable desire for spiritual things, a love for people, and a quiet sense of humor. He was an avid horseman. Bob was involved for a number of years as a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship Chapter in Topeka and a member of Community Church.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening, November 2, 2012, at Community Church, 1819 S.W. 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
