Dr. Lyle L. Kimbrough, 85, of Topeka, passed away at his home Friday, October 14, 2011. He was born February 20, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Blanche Gay Kimbrough.
Lyle was a graduate of Topeka High, Emporia State Teachers College, and the University of Missouri Dental School, where he was a member of Phi Delta Chi and Psi Omega fraternities respectively. He also served with the United States Navy during World War II. Lyle was a retired dentist, practicing in Topeka for 40 years. He was a past president of the Topeka Dental Society and a founding member of the Topeka 20-30 Club. Lyle was a member of the Kansas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Friends of Mulvane Art Museum, Topeka High Historical Society, and the Topeka Country Club. Lyle very much enjoyed spending time with family, jazz, and regular gatherings with his 1944 Topeka High classmates.
In 1949, Lyle married Peggy Scott, to which union four children were born. They later divorced. On August 18, 1973, in Topeka, Kansas, Lyle married Barbara Fischer Crater. She survives. Other survivors include: one son, Dana S. Kimbrough, Ballwin, MO; three daughters, Maren L. Brose (Mike), Tulsa, OK, Kathryn A. Kimbrough and Julie L. Roy (John), both of Topeka, KS; and four grandchildren, Dallas Brose, John Kimbrough, Jillian Roy, and Jaclyn Roy. Lyle was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kimbrough.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
