Dr. Jack L. Garhan, D.D.S., 84, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Lexington Park Assisted Living. He was born on November 21, 1926 in Rising City, NE to William F. and Harriet E. (Olson) Garhan.
After high school, Jack served with the Merchant Marines and Army, traveling around the world. He graduated from Wichita State University and Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis, MO. He practiced dentistry in Topeka for over 35 years. On June 3, 1951 he married Elda Kuhlman, she survives. Other survivors include, their six children, Jane (Greg) Duffens, Topeka; Robert (Cynthia) Garhan, Topeka; Judy (Kevin) O'Brien, Leawood; Patty (Terry) Puett, Auburn; Mary (Mitch) Cooper, Topeka; and Susie (Steve) Herron, Topeka; his son-in-law, Jim Wolff, Topeka; and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Wolff and one brother Jim Garhan.
Private family services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
