Dr. Francis Weyrens
Dr.Francis Pierre Weyrens, Topeka, formerly of Galesburg, IL passed away May 26, 2005 at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage.
Dr. Weyrens was born March 5, 1924 in Sheldon, ND, the son of Dr. Peter J. and Frances Hackle Weyrens. His childhood was spent in Hebron, ND. He graduated from Notre Dame University and St. Louis University Medical School.
He served in active duty in the U.S. Navy and rose to Commander in the Naval Reserves.
Dr. Weyrens practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Galesburg, IL for 32 years. He was an innovative and dedicated physician.
His long life was characterized by grace, wisdom, a great sence of humor, and generosity.
He was married to Helen Draeb for 42 years before her death in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Charmaine Kleiber, Iowa City, IA and a son Dr. Francis James Weyrens, Topeka, and 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Myrtle Lamport, Halekoa, HI.
Memorial services will be held in Hebron, ND and Galesburg, IL at a later date.
