Doyle "Dean" Harris, 75, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006 very peacefully at Midland Hospice House.
Dean was born on May 15, 1931 in Chanute, KS, the son of Paul and Velma Harris. He was raised and graduated from Chanute High School. After graduating, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. New Jersey.
Dean was united in marriage to Janet Franklin in 1954 and together they had four children.
Dean's lifetime work was in the construction industry. He also enjoyed flying airplanes, golf, and jazz music. He was very active in the Arab Shrine, Masonic Lodge, and Jesters.
His family include; sons and daughter in laws, Alan and Dana Harris and Scott and Kim Harris; daughters and son in laws, Terri and Dale Sheehan and LuAnn and Rob Benge; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Harris and James Harris, and one sister, Jo Ann Brinkmeyer.
A memorial service for Dean will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5th at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Following his service, a celebration of Dean's life will be at The 20's club, 2910 S.W. Oakley Avenue, Topeka, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
