Douglas L. Warren, 71, of Topeka, died peacefully in the arms of God on Saturday, February 14, 2015. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Douglas was born on October 6, 1943 in Hays, Kansas, the son of John Leroy and Irene Rose (Coupal) Warren.
He graduated from Hays High School and from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Computer Science.
Douglas owned and operated Warren Insulation and worked for Stripe and Seal in Hays, Kansas, and later with Senior Care in Topeka, Kansas.
Doug had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories to his family, friends and co-workers. He loved working with his brother Jim and J.W. in Hays. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends who were so loved by him. Doug's greatest joy was his time spent as Papa to his grandchildren. He proudly supported all their endeavors and was devoted to attending their school functions and sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Annette McElroy of Topeka; son, Scott Warren of Topeka; daughter, Stacey Broers (Scott) of Ozawkie; step-son, Matthew McElroy (Jessie); his grandchildren, Alex and Conner Broers and Isaac and Ainsley McElroy; brother, Jim Warren of Hays and his nephews Jason and Erik; sister, Kay Howell (Rusty) of Sour Lake, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pat Warren; and two grandchildren, Hayley Broers and Elise McElroy.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Doug's life, to visit with the family, and to share memories will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel in Topeka.
The family would like to thank all the Doctors and staff at Stormont-Vail Health Center for the care and compassion given to Doug and his family.
