Dorothy Ulrich

Mrs. Dorothy L. Ulrich, 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday October 23, 2003 at a Topeka retirement community.

She was born October 27, 1914 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Arthur Hamilton Hazlett and Margaret B. Hazlett Smith.

Mrs. Ulrich moved to Lawrence, Kansas at an early age, attending Lawrence Public Schools, graduating from Lawrence Memorial High School and Lawrence Business College.

Dorothy moved to Topeka in 1940, where she was employed by the State of Kansas as a Secretary in the Governor's Office for two different Governors. She had served as secretary to General Joe Nickell, Adjutant General of Kansas. Mrs. Ulrich also was secretary to a Senator during the Legislative Sessions for several years.

She was married to Lyle Ramsey Ulrich, April 19, 1941 in the Congregational Church at Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death June 23, 1981.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday 10-28-2003 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 1:15p.m. Tuesday 10-28-03 at Brewster Place in the Fink Living Room at the Health Unit.
Mrs. Ulrich will lie in state from 8:00am until 9:00 pm Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O.
