Dorothy M. Sykes, 73, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at her home.
She was born February 15, 1931 in Bard, CA., the daughter of Richard J. and Fay(Wristin) Blackwell.
As a pastor's wife, she was deeply involved in the work of the church along side her husband and in caring for their children.
She married Thomas E. Sykes on January 1, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Stephany Woods and her husband Gary of El Cajon, CA; a son Dale and his wife Gigi of Mountian Home, AR. and four grandchildren, Katrina and Ben Woods and Westin and Annie Sykes.
A visitation will be from 7-8:00 pm Tuesday, JAnuary 4, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Wednesday, January 5 at First Southern Baptist Church with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabels Memorial Park Cemetery.
