Dorothy L. Swenson, 88, of Topeka, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at a local care facility.
She was born on November 12,1915 in Freemount, McPherson County, Kansas, the daughter of John and Lavia (Lundquist) Swenson.
She graduated from Lindsborg High School.
After high school, she worked for the Grant Billingsley Fruit Company in Wichita, KS, from 1937 to 1944. She then worked for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad begining in 1945, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Women's Club of Topeka, and the Santa Fe Old Timers.
She was preceded in death by her parents: two sisters; Helen Laskie and Hazel Swenson; brother, Kenneth Swenson; sister in law, Ida Swenson and nephew, John Carlson.
Survivors include:nieces, Joyce Toolin, Tucson, AZ; Mary Swenson, Lindsborg, KS.,nephews; Gerry Carlson,Smithville, MO;Jim Swenson,Edmond, OK.
Miss Swenson will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 11, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church. A graveside service will take place at 3:30 p.m. that day at Freemount Lutheran Church Cemetery in Freemount, KS.
