Dorothy S. Whitlow, 98, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011.
She was born June 16, 1913 at Big Springs, KS, the daughter of George Cline and Clara (Butler) Swecker.
Mrs. Whitlow was Assistant Secretary-Treasurer at Security Benefit Life Insurance Company when she retired in 1981, after many years of service. She was a member of Security Benefit Retirement Group of Company employees, and was active in the Central Park Community Bridge Group. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was married to Raymond C. Whitlow, Jr. on April 26, 1952 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1993.
Dorothy is survived by a niece, Deborah (Bob) Smith, Hawley, TX; two step-sons, Gary and Ronnie Whitlow.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Entombment will follow at Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Topeka. Dorothy will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd, Topeka, KS 66617.
