Dorothy Netson, 94, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was born November 18, 1919, in Goldthwaite, Texas, the daughter of Earl and Leora (Heller) Miller.
On March 25, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, she married Walter I. Netson. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2005.
Dorothy was a competitive bridge player, playing in many clubs and traveling to many tournaments. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka and past member of the Knollwood Garden Club, Altrusa Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and Shawnee Country Club.
Survivors include son, Glenn Butler; daughter, Ethelyn Kay Nash; two grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and sisters, Edna Johnson, Norma Baker, and Jean Box.
She was preceded in death by brothers, J.F. Miller and Charles Miller; and sisters, Bessie Johnson and Billie Simmons.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Helping Hands Humane Society.
