Dorothy Marie Dickens

Dorothy Marie Dickens, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Aldersgate Village. She was born on April 20, 1932 in Lawrence County, Allison Township, Illinois to William Bryan and Omerine M. (Brissette) Goodwin. Dorothy graduated from Washburn University with a master's degree in social work. She was a social worker for several nursing homes throughout Topeka. She was a past member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church. Dorothy is survived by her children, Karen Caldwell of Topeka; Michael Dickens of Ballwin, MO; Catrina Tarshis of Chicago, IL; a sister Betty Lowe of California; a brother, Bill Goodwin of Illinois; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren and her son Bryan. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14 at Mount Hope Chapel. Mrs. Dickens will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, P.O. Box 8630, Topeka, KS 66618.
