age76,Topeka, passed away October 23, 2004 at Aldersgate Village. Dorothy was born in Salina, Ks December 15, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Mabel Bigler. She graduated from Goodland High School and attended Colorado State Teachers College.
She married Arthur Frank Ackerman December 29, 1946 in Goodland, KS. She moved to Topeka in 1958. Dorothy was active in Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and as a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of University United Methodist Church for many years.
She worked for for Capper's Foundation For Crippled Children and retired after 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris Bigler, her brother Myron Bigler, and her husband Arthur Ackerman.
Survivors include: sister-in-law Luise Bigler, Colorado Springs, CO:, three children: Doris and her husband Bob Coley, Flippin, AR, Frank Ackerman, Denver, CO: and Myron and his wife Karen Ackerman, Wichita, KS.: Four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at University United Methodist Church. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Capper Foundation 3500 SW 10th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. On-line condolences may be made to www.penwellgabel.com.
