Dorothy M. Torgeson, 84, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011.
She was born Feb. 24, 1927 in Topeka, the daughter of Frank A. and Elsie V. (Broberg) Baker.
She was a charter member of the Topeka Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Dorothy married Floyd N. Torgeson, Jr., on June 17, 1946 at Topeka. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Sheri (Jerrie) Moore, Albuquerque, NM and Lynn (Terry) McNeil, Topeka, KS; two sons, Sam (Marsha) Torgeson, Topeka and Dana Torgeson, Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Paulette Stratton in 1994 and a sister, Maralyn Hanson.
Mrs. Torgeson was cremated. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Sunday June 12, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. A celebration of life ceremony will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
