Dorothy M. Dale, 90, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014.
She was born August 6, 1923 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas Riley and Fawnita (Thompson) Root. She was a graduate of Garnett High School.
Mrs. Dale was retired from Dillard's Department Store in Topeka.
She was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church and the American Business Women's Association.
Dorothy married Kenneth Dale on September 28, 1941 in Kansas City. He preceded her in death in October of 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Machnov, Topeka; two sons, Lee (Nancy) Dale, McKinney,TX and Kenneth (Sheila) Dale, Overbrook; 6 grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Machnov and Rob (Kellee Allen) Machnov, Kori Dale, Staci (Craig) Allen, Anne (Neal) Baughman and Carolee (Josh Hoke) Baker; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jake, Matthew and Kristina Machnov, Hunter Dale, Avery and Erin Allen, Thomas, Andrew and Nathaniel Baughman, and Emma Hoke.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
