Dorothy Louise (Coon) Worden, 79, Topeka, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Dorothy was born May 17, 1934 in Zeandale, Kansas, the daughter of Harold and Francis Coon.
On June 1, 1952 Dorothy married George Worden, they had been married 61 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, George Worden; three sisters, Erma Jean Freel (Daryl) Loveland, CO and Joyce Coon, Topeka, and Shirley Brubaker (Earl), Tacoma, Wash., one brother, Jerry Coon (Becky) Miles City, MT; a son, Richard Worden (Pat) Topeka; a daughter, Barb Dunn (Alan) Burlingame, as well as her grandchildren, Jeremy Worden, Shawn Worden, Heather Merchen, Scott Worden, Mark Worden and Timothy Dunn; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a long time server of man and of the many children that she cared. She was employed as a waitress in several restaurants but loved her time spent doing day care for numerous children, treating each of them as her own was not just her job, but her passion. She enjoyed camping and gardening, but her real love was time spent with her family. She is a long time member of Grace Bible Church.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Wamego Cemetery at 12 noon.
