Dorothy L. McKeever, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at her home peacefully in her sleep. She was born on September 16, 1918 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Ronald E. and Hazel E. Mills Mangrum. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and obtained a BS Degree in Business Education from the Kansas State Teachers College in Pitttsburg in 1941. Dorothy was a school teacher for 17 years, teaching at Netawaka, KS and Topeka High School. She moved to Topeka in 1959. She was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Dorothy married Kenneth McKeever on October 24, 1942 in Pittsburg. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Ronald G. McKeever of Bradenton, FL, one daughter, Susan E. Wallace of Topeka, four grandchildren, one great-grandson, three step-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4746 S.W. 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.
