Dorothy Juanita (Smith) Wischropp, 84, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at a Topeka nursing home. She was born September 25, 1922 in LeNape, KS to Thomas and Pearl Smith. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, Lawrence. Dorothy was married to Ophie (Dutch) Wischropp on July 25, 1945 in Atchison. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1995. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Smith, who died as a teenager, Howard Smith; and one sister, Hazel Smith, all of Lawrence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife, Kay; a granddaughter, Tonya Dade and her husband, Dustin; a great-granddaughter, Lydia Dade, all of Olathe; one sister-in-law, Helen Smith, Lawrence; a niece, Carol Smith, Gainesville, FL; and a cousin, Margie Wiseman, Lawrence. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2007 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state after 12 noon on Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice or Helping Hands Humane Society or to the organization of the donor's choice.
