Dorothy J. Michael

Dorothy J. Michael, 84, of Topeka, lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Osage City, the daughter of Fred and Anna Skidmore Lamond. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1942. She has resided in Topeka since 1949. Dorothy married Guy C. Michael on December 30, 1945 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1975. She was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Survivors include her children, Fred C. ( Kathy) Michael, Connie S. (Ed) Garrison, Guy F. Michael, Howard G. Michael, Steven E. (Debbie) Michael, James L. Michael, fifteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Duane Lamond and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the KSU Cancer Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506.
