Dorothy J. Matyak, 89, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at her daughter's home.
She was born March 25, 1924, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Josephine (Britschge) Landis. She was a 1943 graduate of Silver Lake High School.
Mrs. Matyak was a member of Moose Lodge No 555.
Dorothy married Frank A. Matyak on May 8, 1948 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Matyak, Topeka; a grandson, John (Heather) Jenssen, Topeka; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Jenssen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Childress and a brother, Richard Landis.
Dorothy enjoyed dancing, gardening and fishing.
Mrs. Matyak will lie in state from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. A private funeral ceremony will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
