Dorothy "Alice" Irwin, Topeka, died on December 13, 2006.
She was born October 26, 1912 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Burns. She attended Hiawatha High School and graduated from Highland College. After graduation, she was a teacher in country schools for a number of years.
She married Robert R. Irwin on July 11, 1938. Robert R. Irwin preceded her in death December 6, 1981. They had one son, Robert R. Irwin III, who also preceded her in death on May 13, 2003. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Burns and Thomas Burns, and one sister, Ruth Schultz. She is survived by her sister, Helen Comfort of Topeka, Kansas and Grace McKethan, Wickenburg, Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Alice belonged to many organizations during her lifetime, but was particularly fond of FI Chapter of PEO.
A private burial is planned at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
