Dorothy Haynes Corkhill, 87, of Topeka, died Wednesday, January 31, 2008 after a brief illness. She was born June 20, 1920, to Joe and Laurene Crary Haynes, Clifton, KS. She was married 49 years to John K. Corkhill, who preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Corkhill attended Washburn University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi, and she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her brother, Loren Haynes, Clay Center; her sister Marjorie Wald, West Virginia; son John Kelly Corkhill, Topeka; daughter Debra Ann Corkhill and son-in-law Paul Craft, Florida; daughter Jamie Corkhill, Topeka; and one granddaughter. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, following the interment at 2:00 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Corkhill will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. Monday with family visitation between 2:00-4:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604-1374.
