Dorothy Gibson, 78, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at a local hospital.
Dorothy was born February 8, 1931 in Kerrville, TX, the daughter of Fritz and Josephine (Rust) Strube. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville and Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1954.
Dorothy married Keith Edmond Gibson on December 18, 1954. Together they owned and operated Gibson Concrete Products. Keith died April 30, 1976 and Dorothy continued in the business until 2002.
Survivors include sons, Mark (Donna) Gibson, Phoenix, AZ, Todd (Lisa) Gibson, Silver Lake; daughter, Cheryl (Chris) Cox, Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Strube Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
