Dorothy Grace Strickler Elliott, 96, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.
She was born Nov. 28, 1911 in Topeka and had lived here all her life. She was the daughter of Major Herbert and Grace (Niccum) Strickler.
She graduated from Topeka High School. After graduation she taught accounting, business mathematics and spelling at Strickler's Business College for ten years before quitting to raise her family. Later she was employed in the office at McElroy's, Inc. for over 16 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Topeka and United Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was also a member of several camping and recreational vehicle clubs and enjoyed outdoor life. She was active in various ways at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor where she lived since 1988.
She married Ora Hugh Elliott on July 25, 1938 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1998. They had a son, Lee Edward Elliott, CA; a daughter, Linda Broyles and son in law, Dave Broyles, Allen, TX; and three grandchildren, Paula Elliott Jorgenson, Todd Elliott and Karin Ricketts.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wed., Feb. 6 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Family will greet friends 2 hrs. prior to service from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Good Samaritan Fund at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
