Dorothy E. Tudhope

Dorothy E. Tudhope, 85, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010.

She was born January 20, 1925 in Columbia, MO. the daughter of Chase and Mabel (Brewer) Gilliland. Dorothy lived with her Aunt and Uncle Emma Jane and Delmer Daly after her mothers' death. They later adopted her. After moving to Topeka, she graduated from Topeka High School. After WWII, she married Howard W. Tudhope on November 3, 1945. Dorothy worked several places during and after the war. In later life, she worked at Ed Marling's for 10 years and 5 years at Aldersgate Village.

She has been an active member of Potwin Presbyterian Church for many years. She enjoyed traveling, decorating and crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Howard, her son, John and wife, Carole of Lee's Summit, MO; two grandsons, Stephen and his wife, Heidi; Timothy and one great-grand daughter, Saffron Rose Tudhope.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday September 15, 2010 at Mt. Hope Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, KS. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Potwin Presbyterian Church 400 Washburn, Topeka, KS 66606 or Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave. Topeka, KS.66608. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
