Dorothy M. Briggs, 82 of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Francis Health Center. She was born on October 24, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas to Michael G. and Matilda M. Breight.
Dorothy graduated from Hayden High School in 1947. On June 18, 1947 she married Donald E. Briggs at Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and a past president of Ladies of Columbus.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Donald; nine children, Deborah (Duane) Pomeroy, Topeka; Denise Myers, Hoyt; Delthea (Brad) Winsor, Topeka; Dianna (Tim) Halpin, Olathe; Doreen (John) Fitzpatrick, Hazelwood, Missouri; Donald Briggs II, Topeka; Darold Briggs, Fort Worth, Texas; Dauane (Laura) Briggs, Salina; Darren (Belinda) Briggs, Salt Lake City, Utah; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Breight (Shirley), Meriden; and sister, Kathy Fitzpatrick, Sanford, Florida.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 17, at Assumption Catholic Church, 204 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka, KS. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
