Dorothy Reichart passed away on April 9, 2014.
She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on February 20, 1931, to Clarence E. and Edna Lucille Bleckley. Dorothy was a graduate of THS and attended Washburn University where she met the love of her life, Jerry Reichart. They were married on December 30, 1950. She enjoyed sharing his life as a coach, attending his ball games, helping him on his farm, and traveling around the country together.
She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, First United Methodist Church, the Woman's Department Club, PEO Chapter CS, and numerous bridge clubs. She worked as an Executive secretary for AT&T for many years and was active in their Pioneer Club. Following her retirement she served as a docent at both the Kansas State Historical Museum and the Art Museum at Washburn University.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her much loved husband, Jerry. Survivors include one sister and her husband, Nancy and Dean Erwin of Shreveport, La., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She treasured her many friends with whom she and Jerry played bridge, danced, and traveled extensively She will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12 in the Klasse Chapel at First UMC, 600 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Washburn University Foundation in memory of Jerry Reichart.
