Dorothea "Dot" (Ringwald) Juergensen, 97, of Alma, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
She was born December 6, 1917, in Bushton KS, the daughter of Reinder and Arrendiena (Soeken) Ringwald.
Mrs. Juergensen was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS and confirmed in Evangelical Lutheran in Chase, KS and was a current member of the St. John Lutheran Church, of Alma, KS.
Dot married Martin F. Juergensen on August 3, 1941 in Chase, KS. Mr. Juergensen was a principal/teacher of Lutheran schools which took them to cities including South Amana, IA, Clover, ID, Lodi, CA, Glendale, CA, San Fernando Valley, CA, North Miami, FL, retiring in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Paula (Earl) Moege, Alma; Phyllis (Cecil) McCoy, Rock Springs, WY and Joyce (Jim) Tate, Santa Fe. NM; a son, Martin F (Sheryl) Juergensen, Jr., Midlothian, VA; six grandchildren, Eddie (Kim) Moege, Tammy (Jim) Heine, Ryan (Monica) McCoy, Nicole (Ryan) Boyd, Dawn (Damon) Moore, Nikki (Rob) Bird; 16 great-grandchildren, April (Josh) Lira, Jacob (Delaney) Moege, Chad Heine, Lyndsi (Ben) Eckelberry, Brad Heine, Zach Heine, Gabrya McCoy, Shelby McCoy, Ellynor George, Cecilia Boyd, Mya Moore, Kylie Juergensen, Payton Bird, Annabelle Bird, Sophie Bird, Robbie Bird; four great-great-grandchildren, Isaac, Cassie and Kari Lira, Jacobi McCoy and Lillian Eckelberry; and a brother, Carl (Claudine) Ringwald, Great Bend, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Gesina Honnen, Antje Dobrinski and Minnie McQuilliam; and a brother, Wessel Ringwald.
Dot enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives and friends, gardening and loved her flowers. She liked sewing, refinishing furniture, playing games, especially pinochle.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, 218 W. 2nd St., Alma. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Dot will lie in state from 3-8 pm, Sunday, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
