Doris Wilson

Doris M. Wilson, 90, Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007 at Brewster Place Health Center.

She was born June 23, 1917 in Atlanta, Kansas to William P. and May (Carver) Smith. Doris graduated from Kansas State University in 1938 and married C. Peairs Wilson, a young professor at Kansas State on November 20, 1941. They lived in Manhattan, Honolulu, HI, the Philippines and San Diego, CA where her husband died in 1993. She moved to Lake George, CO in 1997 and to Topeka in 2004.

Peairs' work in Universities in Kansas and Hawaii led him on many projects around the world and Doris always accompanied him.

Survivors include their children: Susan (Nate) Bowditch, Westport Island, ME; Kathleen (Harold) Selvidge, Topeka; Carver (Maureen) Wilson, Kula, Maui, HI; grandchildren, Windi Bowditch, Amesbury, MA; Sean (Nancy Hiemstra) Bowditch, Syracuse, NY; step-grandchildren, Diana Corbin, San Diego, CA; Julie (Mike) Oppenheimer, Escondido, CA; Sean (Nicole) Selvidge, Topeka; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dulcie Rathburn and her brother, William P. Smith.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
