Doris A. Sheetz, 89, of Topeka, passed away Friday, September 23, 2005 at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born June 27, 1916 in Marquette, the daughter of Arvid W. and Iva B. Cutright Shuberg.
She attended Topeka Public Schools. She was active at Potwin Presbyterian Church, Second Presbyterian Church, Topeka Women's Club and the Stormont-Vail Women's Auxiliary. She worked for the Kansas Grain Inspector's for several years. She was an avid bridge player and loved to crochet afghan blankets, especially for her family and close friends.
She married Charles J. Sheetz on August 9, 1940 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Jay Sheetz, III and a grandson, Charles Jay Sheetz IV.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris J. Ireland, Topeka; six grandsons, Michael C. Sheetz and his wife Mary, Topeka; Peter D. Sheetz, Lafayette,CO; C. Samuel Sheetz and his wife Christy, Topeka, Brian C. Ireland, New York, NY; John T. Ireland and his wife Michelle, Topeka; Jeff N. Ireland and his wife Cindy Price, Topeka; one granddaughter, Nancy Otto and her husband Chris, Manhattan; and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Sheetz will lie in state after 1:00 pm on Monday, September 26 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm that evening. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 27 in the Lincoln Section of Mount Hope Cemetery.
