Doris Ruth Sherbenou
Doris Ruth Sherbenou, 83, Topeka, died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Peggy Kelly House 2.
She was born August 23, 1927 in Sylvan Grove, the daughter of Harold and Ethel Wohler Stoneman, and graduated from Salina High School in 1945. Mrs. Sherbenou lived in Manhattan from 1953 to 1961 and in Olathe from 1961 until coming to Topeka in 1969. She was a hairdresser and a homemaker.
She married Claude Sherbenou on June 10, 1945 in Salina. He died in September, 1993.
Survivors include her two daughters, Claudia McCarley of Aberdeen, MS and Linda (Tim) Riddle of Topeka; grandchildren, Michael McCarley, Chris McCarley, and Jennifer (Brian) Hermann; great-grandchildren, Mallory McCarley and Emily McCarley.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Sherbenou will not lie in state.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peggy Kelly House 2, 1800 SW Fairmont Rd., 66604.
