Doris N. Hoopes

Doris N. Hoopes, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Brewster Place in Topeka. She was born on July 3, 1924 in DeWitt, MO, the daughter of James and Bertha Muckey Hensley. She was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 23 years before retiring. Doris married James E. Heady in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1971. Doris married Dale W. Hoopes on August 23, 1975 in Topeka . He preceded her in death in December of 2005. Survivors include one son, Rick Heady and wife, Donna of Kansas City, MO, one daughter, Marsha Bianco of Oxnard, CA , two grandchildren, Gina Weber and husband, Mark, and Doug Heady and one great-grandson, Tyler Weber and one great-granddaughter due in October. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Doris will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the KSU Cancer Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhatan, KS, 66506.
