Doris G. McFarland, 83, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1923 in Topeka, KS the daughter of James and Lucille Sleeper Patterson.
Mrs. McFarland's family was her career. She loved to have her children gather for fun, laughter and card games.
She married Walter W. McFarland in 1943. He preceded her in death March 14, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy L. Butler and her husband John T., Topeka; Trudy D. Calhoun and her husband Gary A., Topeka; three sons, Walter N. McFarland and his wife Deb, Topeka; James E. McFarland, Lawrence, KS; Scott E. McFarland and his wife Shayao, Anchorage, AK; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. McFarland will lie in state after 2:00pm Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that evening. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Community Living Opportunities, 2125 Delaware, Lawrence, Kansas 66046 or to T.A.R.C., 2701 SW Randolph, Topeka, Kansas 66611.
