Doris K. Longstaff, 78, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023.
She was born August 18, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Orval and Doris (Hawn) Longstaff. She attended Topeka High School.
Doris married Joseph Juarez in August of 1961. They became parents together at a young age and was blessed with six children, Natalie, Annette, Pamela, Jody, Matthew and Sean. She loved her children and stayed home to take care of them until they were grown. He preceded her in death in July of 2014.
After years of being a homemaker, Doris ventured out of the home for work. She turned a hobby into a profession. She began working for Harrahs Casino, which later became Prairie Band Casino. She loved her job and worked in Guest Services and the Bingo Hall for a number of years.
Doris adored her family and loved spending time with the grandkids. She often traveled to watch Sean's boys play baseball. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Doris also enjoyed traveling, fishing and watching Royal's Baseball. She loved her dog, Piper.
She leaves behind her children, Natalie (Mark) Rhoads, Annette Deedrick, Pamela (Jeffrey) Mesler, Jody (Michele) Juarez and Sean (Michelle) Juarez; grandchildren, Victoria, Joseph, Noah, Megan, Courtney, Tristan, Haley, Montana, Michael, Chelsea, Ryan, Ethan, Lynette, Seth, Dustyn, Dakota, Jade, Samuel and Luke; 13 great grandchildren; significant other, Michal Dickerson and siblings, Ann McKenzie and Orval "Buster" Longstaff. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Juarez; her parents; siblings, Dale Longstaff and Karen Templin and son in-law, John Jr. Deedrick.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. Her family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
