Donna Jean Armstrong

Donna Jean (Dean) Armstrong passed away July 28, 2023 at Presbyterian Manor, Topeka, KS. Donna was 97 years old; born July 17, 1926 in Topeka, Kansas. Donna graduated from Topeka High School. She was married 67 years to Charles Armstrong. They married in Saguin, Texas where Charles joined his brothers in a construction company after WWII. After several years, Donna and Charles returned to Topeka and he started Armstrong Construction. Donna was a Brownie/ Girl Scout Leader and somehow managed to endure all the camp outs and outdoor activities even though camping was not on her preferred list. She enjoyed cooking and was devoted to many animals she and Charlie had over the years. When you arrived at their house it was not unusual to be greeted by the billy goat or horse on the back patio and there was always a pack of hounds in the mix. Donna and Charles retired early and enjoyed winters in South Texas, summers in Estes Park and spring and fall in Topeka.

Donna is survived by a daughter, Tamara Vincent (John Payne), granddaughters, Amy Newell (Jeff) and Angela Nordhus (Dean); great grandchildren, Alex Newell and Lauren Newell. She is preceded by Charles, her parents Olive and Frank Dean and son in-law, Starks Vincent.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Presbyterian Manor, Cottonwood Unit, for their loving and kind support and the Midland Hospice team who supported Donna and her family the last four months. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
