Donald L. Travis, 67, Topeka, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born Nov. 22, 1935 in Marshall Co., Illinois, the son of Benjamin and Ora Anderson Travis. He graduated from Wenona, IL High School in 1954. Mr. Travis served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961.
Following his discharge, he worked for Hankhamer Asphalt. Since 1974, he has been employed by Hamm Asphalt .
He was a former member of the Kansas Construction Trades Union and the NRA.
He married Janice Craig on Oct. 23, 1982 in Las Vegas. She survives. Other survivors include 3 Step-daughters, Glenda Marple, Burlingame; Sharyl Nelson, Wichita; Laura Jefferies, Topeka; 3 Sisters, Bernice Scott, Carlock, IL; Betty Maturn, Wenona, IL; JoAnn Stanton, Pontiac, IL; 5 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Alan Travis, a step-son, Rance A. Craig, a brother, Lowell Travis, and a sister, Doris Norman.
Services will be 11:00 am Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Travis will lie in state after 9 am Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 3-5 pm.
