Donald "Donny" Albert Smith III, 51 years of age, departed this life on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at his home with family in Topeka.
Donny was born March 5, 1954 in Topeka, the son of Donald and June Smith.
He attended public schools in Topeka. Donny was employed at Essex Wire for 16 years. He had a great appreciation for music and was an expert cook. He was a very spiritual person who enjoyed reading his bible daily.
He married Laura Janet "Jan" Smith on July 2, 1975 in Oklahoma City. Out of this union was born one son, Antione Donell Smith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jan Smith of Topeka; a son Antione Smith and his wife Brandy of Topeka; his parents, Donald and June Smith of Topeka; three brothers, Anthony "Tony" Smith, Sr., Micheal Renell Smith, Sr., and Damon Shawn Smith, all of Topeka; one sister, Carmen Rochelle Smith of Topeka; an aunt, Jean L. Clay of Topeka; an uncle, Norvell D. Ewing of Cameron, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and several cousins.
He also had many loyal and dedicated friends.
Mr. Smith will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Monday July 4 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The casket will remain closed. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday July 5 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Dr., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
