Dr. Donald L. Pile, 84, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
He was born August 31, 1922 in Streator, Illinois the son of Frank S. and Ruby D. Pile. He was a 1940 graduate of Streator High School. He attended Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois prior to joining the United States Army. He served four years in World War II as a Tech. Sgt. with the medical corp.
Following his military service he moved to St. Louis, Missouri and attended Logan College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1949. He moved to Kansas and in 1950 started his practice in Rossville and later in Topeka. He was a member of the Kansas Chiropractic Association and Quivira Heights Church of Christ.
He was married to Doris I. Johnson of Marseilles, IL in 1944. She survives. Other survivors include, two children Forrest "Butch" Pile and his wife Ruth and Diana L. Doll-Casto and her husband James all of Topeka, five grandchildren, Kenneth Doll, Chris Peterson, Jeff Casto, Jaimie Casto, Justin Casto, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren Angela "Angie" Doll and Daryl Casto. He is also survived by one sister Dorothy Brei of Joliet, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday March 23, 2007 at the Quivira Heights Church of Christ. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Dr. Pile will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. that evening.
