7. Background: Mr. Mattox attended Topeka High School. He served in the US Marines during the Korean
Conflict. Following his discharge, he co-owned a salvage yard in Topeka with his father. He later was a co-owner
of a concrete plant in Holton for several years. He sold the plant, retired, and moved to Eudora, Kansas. He
moved to Pittsburg, Missouri in November 2001. He was a member of a VFW Post in Holton.
