Donald Lee Reed
Age 73, Passed away January 3, 2003 at a topeka hospital. He was born October 27, 1929 at Burlington, KS the son of Melvin "Shud" and Hortense Ward Reed.
Mr. Reed was a graduate of Burlington High School . After high school he played Semi-Pro baseball. He was a member of the Army
National Guard. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman retiring in 1994. Member of Heart Shockers of Topeka. He was preceded in
death by his parents.
He was married to Betty Ailene Anderson on June 18, 1950 in Burlington,
Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include: 2 daughters, Sherlyn Starkey and Debbie Tiller
both of Topeka, KS and 2 sons, Rick Reed of Topeka, KS and Shane Reed of
Carbondale, KS; 1 sister Betty Hansell of New Strawn, KS; 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Mid-town Chapel at l:00 pm
on Monday, January 6, 2003. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Reed will lie in state from noon Sunday, January 5, 2003 until service
time. Family visitation will be held Sunday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the
funeral home.
