Donald "Don" Lynn Kaufman, 67, ended his walk with us on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, Kansas. He was born to Wilbert and Opal Kaufman in Kingman, Kansas on November 14, 1944. Don graduated from Buhler High School and Hutchinson Junior College before attending Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he met his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Page. Don and Betty were married on August 7, 1966 and moved to Topeka in October. Since then, he has been involved in ministry with First Assembly of God and Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. He was active in children's ministry, music, choir and music productions for over 40 years. He also served on the church board as deacon and building committees, both at First of Assembly of God. For three summers, he volunteered for Royal Family Kids Camp as a counselor. Don was employed by the Menninger Foundation for 35 years. He worked his way from an address stamping machine to being a computer graphic artist. He went to England to train others in the software he developed for the Menninger Foundation in October, 1999. Don also served on the Menninger Credit Union Board. His hobbies included wood working, computer video editing, photography and painting.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty; his children, Dan Kaufman and his wife Jackie; Darlene "Dolly" Bluvan and her husband, Jess; and one special granddaughter, Marissa. Other family includes one brother and three sisters: Pearlene Morrison of Dixon, MO; Roy Kaufman of Wichita, KS; Janice Brady and Melody Morris, both of Valley Center, KS; their spouses and many nieces and nephews. Don was always patient, peace loving, kind and generous. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends!
