Donald H. Johnson, 81, Topeka, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 a a Topeka nursing home. He was born May 23, 1923, in Troy, the son of John Paul and Mary Elizabeth Johnson. He was raised by his grandmother on her farm near Burlingame. After graduation from Burlingame High School, he joined the Navy, where he was a radioman gunner in TBF Avenger Topedo Bobers during World War II. He loater joined the Air Force in electronics repair. Mr. Johson worked for KPL/Western Resources for more than 35 years. He was a meter reader, he fixed meters, repaired appliances and was a warehouse manager when he retired. In retirement, he took great pride in maintaining his home and lawn. He married Norma J. Tipton on June 21, 1961, in Topeka. She sruvives, of the home. Other survivors include a son, Chris Johnson, Kansas City, KS; and a sister, Betty Price, Orlando, FL. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Penewell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr Johnson will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 0p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be set to www.penwellgabel.com
