Donald "Don" Gene Jewett, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on November 14, 1929 in Concordia, KS, the son of Taylor and Mildred Revell Jewett. He graduated from Manhattan Bible College in 1957 and was ordained to the ministry that same year. Don pastored several churches in Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri for 62 years and was a member of Town & Country Christian Church. Don married "Peggy" Pearl V. Hoffman on June 12, 1949 in Goodland, KS. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Donna Botinelly of Wichita, KS, Ginny (Kenny) Swanson of Sand Springs, OK, Joy Jewett of Tulsa, OK, two grandsons, J Michael (Jennifer) Murphy, Brendan Botinelly, one sister, Darlene (Darrell) Walden of Concordia, KS, one brother, Duane Jewett of Cary, NC, one sister-in-law, Sue Jewett and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Jewett. Private graveside committal will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Town & Country Christian Church. Don will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
