Donald Lee Gasper, 90, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
He was born October 3, 1931, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the son of C. Leonard and Iva (Smallwood) Gasper. He graduated from Layfette High School. After graduating high school, he attended St. Joseph Jr. College for Business School. Don served in the United States Air Force.
Don was employed by the Fleming Foods as a Product Manager for over 40 years and retired in 1989.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Topeka, was a Mason of Lodge #189 and Shriner at the Moila Temple in St. Joseph, MO. Don achieved the rank of Life Scout while in the Boy Scouts and was in the Order of Arrow as Brave knight of the road of the Mic-o-say Tribe.
Don was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed traveling and singing in the church choir.
He married Kyoko Gasper on February 12, 1982 in Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2013. Survivors include his children, Dennis (Cindy) L. Gasper, Charles (Anita) E. Evanhoe, Tracy (Randy) A. Kern, Mark (Lisa) E. Evanhoe and Michiko (J.D. Ehler) K. Snell; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Esther Margarite Gasper and son, Mark W. Gasper.
His family will greet friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, Topeka. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. In Don's honor, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Department, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, Topeka, KS 66611.
