He retired from KU in 1987. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as Clerk of Session as a Elder and on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of Melvern Masonic Lodge #22 and the Arab Shrine of Topeka.
Relatives: Married to: Georgia Dooty, September 11, 1947 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. She survives.

Burial: With Military Honors conducted by a Ft. Riley detail will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas
Visitation times, place: Donald Tribble will lie in state after 12:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4-5pm.
