Donald E. Tutt, 87, Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at a local hospital.
Don was born March 10, 1924 in Topeka, the son of Vern Coleman and Freda (Black) Tutt. He attended Topeka schools and was a graduate of Washburn University in 1951.
He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Combat Engineers, during World War II, participating in five campaigns in the European Theater of Operations.
Don worked in advertising in Topeka and Miami, FL. He returned to the Topeka area in 1970 and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation, retiring in 1987. He and his family lived in rural Denison for 30 years, before moving to Topeka in 2001.
Don married Frances Brehmer on March 13, 1947 in Ottawa. She survives. Other survivors include sister, Patricia A. Mick, Topeka; nephews, Ronald Mick, Rossville, Ted Martin, Denison; and nieces, Tanya Nestler, Topeka, and Carolyn Martin Captain, Parsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Venita A. Moreland.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
He was a charter member of the Heart of Jackson Humane Society, and memorial contributions may be made to that organization at PO Box 126, Holton, Kansas 66436.
