Donald D. Barry, passed away on November 28th, 2023.

Don was born on April 25th, 1937, in Kane, Illinois the son of Robert and Geneva Barry. Don grew up in Wood River, Illinois, attending Wood River High School. Thereafter, he attended Kirksville University on a basketball scholarship, later transferring to Southern Illinois University to finish his basketball career.

Don married Margorie Ann Baron on March 26, 1960, in Alton, Illinois, and they enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage together. Don and Marge had two children Tony and Angie.

Don was drafted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. It was there that Don met and served under General Berry, who encouraged Don to take graduate classes at Kansas State University and ultimately to take the Law School Entrance Exam. Don graduated from Washburn University Law School in 1965.

After a brief stint at a law firm in Hutchinson, Kansas, Don returned to Topeka and joined the law firm of Crane Martin Clausen Ashworth, that later became Crane Martin Clausen Hamilton and Barry. Don practiced with the Crane Martin firm for fifteen years before starting his own law firm, Barry Law Office. In 1990, Don's son, Tony, joined the firm and they practiced together for almost thirty years.

Don is survived by his son Tony (Jana) Barry; and grandchildren Brogan (Katie) Barry; Addison (Matt) McLaughlin and Misty Redd; siblings, sister Betty Macias, brother Larry (Sherry) Barry; and his nieces and nephews. Don's grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also loved his farm west of Topeka, where he would spend countless hours riding on his tractor(s), brush hogging or working on his roads. The farm was Don's favorite place and a stress relief for the seven days a week work schedule he insisted on keeping until August of this year.

Don was preceded in death by his both his wife, Marge, and daughter, Angie, in 2021.

A private service and celebration of Don's life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions be made to Parkinson: NE Kansas Parkinson Association, PO Box 67342, Topeka, KS 66667 or Ascend Hospice, 4550 W. 109th Street Suite 210, Shawnee Mission, KS 66211.
