Donald Lee Bailey, 83, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on April 12, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
He was born the son of Irwin Grant Bailey and Freda Maleda Theresa Marie Katz. He grew up and attended school in Goff, Kansas.
Donald Lee Bailey married Marietta R. Brammer on 24 January 1960 in Goff, Kansas. They shared 62 years of marriage. She survives. Other survivors include their son, Mark B. (Debbie) Bailey of Topeka, Kansas; grandson, Brandon (Brianne) Bailey of Derby, Kansas; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brecken Bailey and Janelle.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Lee Bailey.
Donald worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 37 years. After retirement, he kept busy hunting, fishing, taking care of the farm and playing with his grandkids. He belonged to the American Legion Post #400. He loved to travel in his R.V. and spent winters in Alamo Rose R.V. Park in Alamo, Texas, where also enjoyed deep sea fishing. While in Texas, he would often spend time woodworking and sell his crafts at the R.V. Park. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs Fan and was a season ticket holder for 20 years, often traveling to their away games. Donald also enjoyed country and line dancing and taking trips out of town with the dancing groups.
He loved his family. Donald was very proud of his grandson's medical career.
Honoring Donald's wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas, 66604.
