on G. Brecheisen, 81, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1922 in Melvern, the son of Morrill Curtis and Mary Louise Dickey Brecheisen. He was raised and graduated from high school at Melvern.
He served in the US Coast Guard from Nov. 30, 1942 to April 30, 1946, and came to Topeka on June 4, 1947.
Mr. Brecheisen worked for the Fleming Company for 34 years in Topeka, Plainville, KS, Lincoln, NE, and Joplin, MO before returing to Topeka, where he retired. Following his retirement, he was a cattle rancher and farmer in the Melvern area.
He married Marge Kendall on June 11, 1948. She survives. Other survivors include a son, John Brecheisen and wife Carolyn, of Alphretta, GA; daughter, Leah Towne and husband Joseph, of North Richland Hills, TX; granddaughters, Sarah Conkle and husband Robert, of North Richland Hills and Jill Brecheisen of Bothell, WA; step-grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua Towne of North Richland Hills; sister, Fern Keim of Melvern; brother, Max Brecheisen, Manhattan.
Services will be 11:00 am Monday at Mt. Hope Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Brecheisen will lie in state after noon Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
