Dolores M. Ahsinger, age 93, joined her Heavenly Family on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home. She was born on August 23, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI. Dolores was married for 47 years to her husband, Joseph Ahsinger, on August 16, 1947 in Milwaukee. He precedes her in death on October 2, 1994. She is also preceded in death by her six year old son, Danny Ahsinger, on March 25, 1963, Mother and Father, Margaret and Mike Brugger, and brother, Val.
Dolores worked at Experimental Aircraft Association in Milwaukee, WI. She and her family moved to Topeka in 1969. She became a teletype operator at Dale Sharp Pontiac. Most importantly to Dolores, she was a stay-at-home Mom and homemaker. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church since 1977.
Dolores was an avid animal lover. Over the course of her life, she had many dogs, birds, fish, and even talked to the squirrels in her backyard. She loved to bird watch, especially seeing Cardinals. She also had a passion for Butterflies. She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed golfing with her family until age 90, and even then, would sit in the cart to watch others play. She loved sitting in the pool playing scrabble and reading a good book. She enjoyed joining the senior bowling league. Dolores was a wonderful painter and actively pursued different crafts- knitting, ceramics, and crocheting. Music was always around her- through family singing as well as the radio. She also loved sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. She loved spending every holiday as a family, making every birthday a special occasion. She loved shopping and going for a drink and food with her girls. Dolores always thought of others before herself.
Dolores is survived by two daughters, Cindy Lacey Purcell (husband, John) and Debbie Spritzer (husband, David); grandchildren, Chad Lacey, Aaron (Danielle) Spritzer, Bree (Vince) Chavez, and Lindsey Purcell. She is also survived by eight step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She loved being a Grandma! Dolores' life was devoted to her family. She was known for her wonderful, beautiful smile, quick wit, her mischievous humor and her kind, compassionate heart for everyone she met.
Her family will greet friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 12:30pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Penwell Gabel Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, in Topeka.
